Doing stuff to keep me outta trouble :)

Hey All!  I had tried to order a Kindle case from a company, but they sent the wrong thing twice.  So, I decided that I would use what I have lying around the house to make my own.  I had an old journal (11 years old) that I loved, but hadn't really ever used.  It was hand made in Tibet.  My wife gave it to me for my birthday in 2003 (as noted on the inside cover).
Closed, before- I love the dowels for securing

Handmade paper- can't really see the naturalness of it

After taking out the paper- some at my desk, some in my writing bag for kids writing supplies

Took a while to get the size right.  I did, then dropped it...craperfic!

Cleaned up- some scraping with a razor to get the perfect fit!  Hot glue to hold it in place.

I can still reach all the right plugs and power button

Done!  It fits just right!!

In total, this project kept me out of trouble for about two hours :)  Now for some mischief!

P.S.: Sorry if you saw this on my writing blog :)

    1. Thanks! It's a bit uneven where I tried to cut the whole thing in half since I had to make two passes, but it'll do :) That plus the crack from where it broke when I dropped it add some character :)

  2. Okay, I am now thoroughly impressed with your gifts! Great job! And you have a writing blog? But back to why I stopped by, your trip to Haiti is as warm and fuzzy as new babies, new PR's, new jobs. Have a blast and thanks for all you do! Woo hoo on your writing coming to fruition!

  3. Yes! I'm working on two blogs right now :) It's actually my wife that's in Haiti (or will be tomorrow-1/24- she's in Miami right now). They'll be working a kitchen at an orphanage/ training center for kids outside the orphanage, painting rooms and teaching business skills to the older kids/ young men and women. Funny- the day I read your post, I got an e-mail from a life long friend saying that he and his wife just adopted a baby! We were quite shocked since they hadn't talked about it for the past few years outside of asking us about the adoption process for China. So, there's some baby news for you :)
