So, I've been running this week...

I've been going to PT for over a month now and my leg has been feeling really, really strong!  Since it has not been hurting at work- I teach 2nd grade and squat to there level a lot and also walk around a lot- or at home doing anything around the house, we decided to skip the elliptical and head right to the  readmill this past Monday.  The verdict?  The run went great!  I did 20 minutes with no pain at all at a 12 minute per mile pace.  However, for Christmas, I got a lot of pain in my right groin AND in both my lower shins, not the left one I've been going to PT for!  WTF!  It wasn't gone the next day, so I called the dr for an appointment.

So, yesterday was the dr appointment and I was able to go through all the motions and having him twist and bend my leg without feeling any pain!  I had also noticed that morning that the pain had subsided a lot.  The dr said that I should do all my regular PT today plus the treadmill run.  If I have pain again, I'm to come back to get blood work done to see if it's rhabdomyolysis again (like this past summer) and to see if my kidneys are functioning properly (scary thought).

So, today's appointment came and went.  I busted my ass, er, leg off like usual and hit the treadmill.  I did another 20 minute session at 12 minutes per mile like Monday.  And, like Monday, it was successful during the run.  Now it's just wait and see.  It's been fine so far!  Fingers crossed!!

  1. Glad to hear that you are getting back to what you love doing and hoping everything turns out right so that you don't need the blood work done. Having an injury can be so frustrating but as I'm finding out, it's so important to let it heal. Take care and all the best in 2013!!

    1. Thanks! Unfortunately I was in quite a bit of pain in my right leg and in a different spot from Tuesday. Blood work done, hoping my dr is open Monday for the results. If not I have to wait until Wednesday.
