I'm in love with running (again)

Since I've been running more and with no pain, I've fallen back in love with running (sigh).  I've bene picking out races to do over the next...year :)  The races are going to be slim as we're also in need of a car for me that is less than 15 years old, gets more than 24 miles per gallon (for my 60 mile commute) and is not leaking multiple fluids from the engine.  My brother did replace the last engine for the cost of the junkyard engine (and a couple boxes of Twinkies), but it's time to move on from a car that I love.

Anyway, I already have my next year+ planned out.  That's how excited I am!  This is how it's shaping up:

2012:
Oct 20: Ghouls and Fools 6.55 night trail run
Oct 21: Topton Terror 5k

Nov 4: Oley Valley Country Classic 10 miler

2013:
Feb 24: Chilly Cheeks: I was hoping it was going to be in Jan on my birthday, but it got switched with another race.  This race is also part of the La Sportiva National Mountain Running Series.  It'll be nice being beaten by guys that are way faster than me (wait, that's a usual...Berks is a tough trail running scene!)

March 30: Wissahickon 12 Hour Trail Challenge.  It's a 13.1 mile loop that I may need a wetsuit for part of if it's under 55.  That makes it fun.

June 1: Rothrock Trail Challenge.  This course may be part of the Tussey Mountainback 50 miler I'm doing in October.  It's also part of the La Sportiva National Mountain Running Series.

September: Labor Pains, of course
5k For AJ: of course!  This one will be a usual!!!

October: Tussey Mountainback 50 miler (I got my entry deferred from this year to next because of injuries.  These guys rock!)

And that's it for the next year!  Psyched :)

    1. I'm so stinkin' excited! I actually had my first race of the year a couple weeks back and ran a 22:56 5k- shocked the heck out of myself. I think that's part of my being psyched!

    1. I can't wait for that one! I know I'll be ready for it next year. Nice long base building period for the next few months with 20's to 30's then up from there slowly. I'm really excited about the night race! They have a beer stop about a mile from the finish. I think that stop is where I'm going to take over last place :) Should make the morning 5k real fun!

  3. I want to do a night run, too. Might end up running one with my niece this month! :)

    1. Shannon, they are so fun! I've only done one night race, but I run at night all the time. It's amazingly peaceful (minus the skunks...). It also makes running trails that much more "fun", too

  4. I just recently fell back in love with running after taking a year off. It's proving to be hard to get back into it given my terrible commute and a newborn at home, but I'm hopeful. I guess I'd be more motivated if I planned out a race schedule like yours. Anyway, like the blog, looking forward to future posts!

    1. Yikes! I'm not fond of my commute either! It's 40 minutes but at least its a pretty commute. A new born can definitely make it hard!!! I really started letting myself go after my son was born and it went down hill fast until he was 4. Since then (4 years ago) I've been busting my butt. I find it easiest to run at night after the kids are in bed and the kitchen is cleaned up (it is my kitchen after all :) ) Having races really helps. Though, I did already take one of them (Oley) off. We ended up needing to get rid of my car and I got another one. An expense we had talked about, but hadn't expected it to happen so soon. But, I'll also be getting at least 15 MPG more than before!
