So, last week I ran 4 days for a whopping 11 miles!! I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it's the most I've run since October 29th (duh, duh, dhunnnn...) the day I felt that *pop* in my leg that ended up being a partially torn abductor. So, in my excitement, I checked to see when the Dirty German 50k was going to be. I had already figured that an ultra would be out of the question because of the delay in my training and figured this would be a no go. Well, I found the date and counted the full weeks of training I could get in and counted 18! Sweet...good start. Now, put 31 miles on May 20th and then slowly go backwards in miles with taper weeks included and BAM! I can do it starting with my first long run of 5 miles this weekend!! It'll be perfect! Slowly build up my leg strength and my base-building. I have enough time for a couple 20 mile training runs as well as a couple other races! I was so excited! And, here it is:
AND in more exciting news? I won $75 in an NFL pool (and can win more) last weekend. That plus a running store gift certificate= new shoes! I'll be checking out Altra Instinct, Mizuno Wave Universe 4 and possibly Inov8 Road x233's. If none of them feel as good as my Grene Silence, I'll be getting another pair of them but a different color- almost 500 miles in 2 pairs of black I need a new color...some color and the Mizuno come in bright red...
New shoes and new TP (yeah, bought toilet paper today, too)...good stuff!

Awesome that you have a doable training plan and can't wait to hear what new shoes you get!
ReplyDeleteI was very happy as well! I hope my leg does well with the slow increase in mileage. Shoes? Well the store I went to had nothing I wanted (I did get a new Nathan hydration belt- speed I think it's called). Going to order the 3 from RunningWarehouse so I don't have to run to other stores...
