That's what I did last night. Holy crap! I didn't think much of not having eaten in 6 hours and grabbed a Clif Shot Gel and headed out the door for 5 progressive miles (each faster than the other for 1-4). I started out fine (9:12 for warm-up, 8:40 for the next, 8:01 for the 3rd) but around 2.5 I could feel the energy just leaving my body. By 3, I was done. I was felling lighteheaded and felt horribly weak. 4 and 5 were in the high 9's and that was pushing it. I don't think I've ever been that bonked before! I actually staggered a few times after mile 4. Oh well, live and learn!
Get your nutrition in! Make sure you've eaten enough before you head out so you don't BONK!
Of course waiting for me when I came back was some homemade chicken-vegetable soup and then we made pumpkin muffins. Of course I had the perfect excuse to eat a lot- I needed to re-energize! And it was goooood...
